Global 8 Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: GBLE) (http://www.g8et.com), a leading developer of environmental technology solutions, today reported that the first stage of the feasibility report for the Fort Providence Environmental Technology Centers is now complete.
Golden Bear Environmental Services, the licensee of the Company’s Environmental Technology Centers for Aboriginal lands, has commissioned Global 8 to produce a detailed feasibility report of their findings and recommendations. The report will be reviewed by Golden Bear and Fort Providence community leaders over the next few weeks.
Fort Providence has long been known as the Canada’s “Gateway to the North” and has abundant supplies of pure glacier water, rich gold and diamond deposits, uranium deposits, and major oil and gas reservoirs.
The Company’s Environmental Technology Centers will showcase an environmentally self-sustainable community model for Arctic and northern regions world-wide. The Company has already received numerous enquiries from communities around the world.
The preliminary stage of the feasibility report indicates that the Company can move forward with the introduction of numerous facilities for Fort Providence:
1. Hydroelectric power being generated by run-of-the-river turbines installed adjacent to the new bridge piers.
2. The existing solid waste landfill replaced by cutting-edge recycling systems including gasification technology to generate heat and electrical energy from organic waste to support a thriving year-round greenhouse vegetable industry.
3. A commercial and business center complete with hotel and restaurant, grocery store, 24 hour vehicle servicing facility, as well as a school, recreational center and self-sustainable housing units: all of these facilities will be built using cutting-edge “green” building products and materials.
4. Solar energy will be harnessed to produce both heated water and electrical power to homes and businesses.
5. Wind turbines along the MacKenzie River will be able to provide year-round electrical power to the community.
The development of these new Environmental Technology Centers in Fort Providence is both timely and necessary for the following reasons:
1. Community electrical power is currently provided by high cost diesel generators.
2. The solid waste landfill has major operational problems and very limited future capacity.
3. Water treatment plant expansion is required now to meet the future demands of tomorrow; and
4. Inadequate and improper sewage treatment and effluent discharge results in frequent contamination of creeks and surface drains in the community.
Community leaders and elders in Fort Providence selected the Company’s Environmental Technology Centers because they can fulfill the community’s goal of establishing a community that fully supports their beliefs and teachings that “Mother Earth is not a commodity but a legacy that must be preserved”.
Mr. Ed Kroeker, President & CEO, stated: “I spent some time in Fort Providence and witnessed first-hand the enthusiasm of the community leaders to build new Environmental Technology Centers in their community. Their recent accomplishment of securing the financing from a consortium of TD Bank, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund and Sun Life Financial to build a new $170million bridge across the MacKenzie River in their community is an impressive accomplishment. They indicated their next goal is the development of these Environmental Technology Centers.”
